THE STUDIO IN DÜSSELDORF
The Studio.
A place for holistic, mindful movement
founded by Alexandra Meffert
My boutique studio in Düsseldorf is where I teach the movement method I developed myself.
My work combines movement intelligence, mobility, nervous system regulation, sustainable strength, and a deeper connection to one’s own body. It’s not about perfecting an external form or training as intensely as possible. It’s about learning to move in a way that makes movement easier, clearer, more efficient, and more supportive.
The studio is a quiet, intimate space for people who want to better understand their bodies: people experiencing tension, stress, physical discomfort, limited mobility, or who simply wish to move more freely, with greater strength, and with greater awareness.
Classes are guided in German, but can be bilingual (German/English), too.
What you will learn at my studio
In my work, you’ll learn to better understand movement from within.
You’ll learn how your breath supports your movement.
You’ll learn how your nervous system reacts to movement, tension, and relaxation.
You’ll learn how to move with less pressure and more inner support.
You’ll learn how mobility, strength, and body awareness are connected.
You’ll learn to become more aware of your movement patterns in everyday life and to change them.
The practice is calm, precise, and playful all at once. It can help reduce stress, improve flexibility and posture, release tension, build lasting strength, and help you regain confidence in your own body.
THE NAME: Light. Space. Movement.
There are a few words that are very important to me thinking about my midnful movement and healing research, practice and teachings for:
experience | exploration | connection | playfulness | awareness | breath | light | space | movement
There is a strong connection between the experience of art & aesthetics, movement and feeling well in your body.
Visiting the Doug Wheeler exhibition at David Zwirner in New York initiated the idea for the studio and mindful movement projects. At the time, wildpalms already existed and the need to to experience practicing mindful, natural movement in an environment connected to art grew – Why? Art offers a special way to interact with and see the world, an approach filled with an enriching, sensitive outside the box way of thinking. In this case, it was an environment without corners, edges orendings. Simply, it was impossible to grasp the dimensions of the rooms or make sense of any perspective.
Funny enough, this specific type of art belongs to an artistic movement called light and space movement originated in California in the 60s.
